Where have all the houses gone?

The shortage of country houses emerging onto the market so far this year across the South East has been no better exemplified than in the pages of Country Life.

In the fourteen weeks from the beginning of 2014 to the 9th April issue, 422 properties have been advertised in the main property section of what is, by any standards, the flag bearer of the best of British property.

Yet only 30 of these properties were in Surrey, 24 in Kent, and further out into Sussex (a market increasingly popular amongst those who value real countryside as well as access to the sea) there have been only 11 across West Sussex – and a mere 4 across East Sussex.

For those waiting for their dream to come available in time for the new school year, hardly heartening and no wonder that the number of buyers enquiring about our service has shot up over the past couple of months.
